The Head of the Republic of Komi, Komi Government, State Council of the Republic of Komi announce with deep regret the death of Yury Alexeyevich Spiridonov, the first Head of the Republic of Komi
Yury Spiridonov died August 12, 2010 after a serious illness. By the order of the Head of the Republic of Komi Vyacheslav Gaizer the Government Funeral Commission was created. Civil funeral and farewell will take place on August 14, 2010 in Syktyvkar. Yury Spiridonov will be buried in Krasny Zaton cemetery of Syktyvkar.

10.00 – last farewell in the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Komi.
11.30 – funeral meeting in the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Komi.
Yury Spiridonov was born on November 1, 1938 in Omsk Region. After graduating from Sverdlovsk Mining Institute he had a working way from a mining master to a mine director in Yarega, the Komi ASSR.
He was elected a deputy of the USSR Supreme Soviet, appointed a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. From 1994 to 2001 Yu.Spiridonov was the Head of the Republic of Komi. From 2003 to 2007 he was a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Federal Council.
He was PhD, economics and Candidate of technical sciences. Yury Spiridonov’s services were honored by high government rewards.
